New Challenge at Celebrate the Occasion

Hi,today is a new challenge over at Celebrate the Occasion. This week we are asking you to make a project for Breast Cancer Awareness. I know this is a cause close to a lot of people's hearts and most of us have a connection in some shape or form.

21 years ago my Mum had breast cancer and just 2 weeks ago after all these years, she had to have another biopsy on a suspicious area. Fortunately, she was given the all clear last week. It's things like this that help put all our trivial worries in perspective. I too have yearly mammograms because I have a very strong family history of breast cancer and my other relatives weren't as lucky as my Mum in fighting it.

Here is my card....

We should always celebrate courage.

Recipe

 Pink Journey cart
(this came with my pink expression and I have not used this cartridge before).
Card base cut at 8.5"
White Layer cut at 3.75"
Phrase cut at 1.5"
Inking
Pink dew drops
3d foam

Entering this in the Link Up For Pink Linking Party.

Remember to give yourself some TLC......Touch,Look and Check

Enjoy today,live with love.
Love you Mum.

Oh Christmas Tree!

Hi and happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend. We are still having a heatwave ( I'm just ready for autumn to start again now!).
I don't work on a Monday and was super busy with chores and bricklaying over the weekend that I decided to have a leisurely day.
I was taken out for lunch to a lovely pub right on the sea front and it was just fabulous.

When I got home I had an hour before doing the school run and decided to make a Christmas card to enter over at My Pink Stamper. Robyn is having a christmas card challenge to help us get ahead with our christmas cards.

Well, you know how much I 'love' my gypsy!! Not!! But I did get it out to design this card and it went well this time....ooh except for one small detail..I'll come back to that in a minute.

How cute is that red cardinal,I think it adds a lovely touch of colour.

Recipe
I welded and flipped the shadow cut of this tree from Winter Woodland. Now, I struggle with sizing the layers because even if I put in the same size the gypsy says it hardly ever turns out right for me!
So I thought I would be clever and put the width of 1 tree in as 3" before I welded. My shaped card cut out well and I decided I would cut the layers from the cartridge, the only thing is that's height not width....see not so clever was I? The height on the gypsy read 4.3" so I cut at 4.25". Learnt that lesson, Lol!
I ran the blue of the tree through an embossing folder and inked all edges. The 'snow' was cut from DCWV glitter card.
The red cardinal was cut at 1" - chopped his legs off! Ha,it's a good job he can fly!
Popped everthing with 3d foam and stamped the inside with Emma's Mixed Holiday Sentiments from My Creative Time.

To show the dimension.

Thought this showed the glittery snow better.

I'm really pleased how this turned out and think I'm going to make a few of these as they are so quick and easy!

Thanks for calling by.

World Card Making Day

Yay,it's the weekend! We are having a mini heatwave in the UK,so it's another gloriously sunny day here. We will probably have snow in a couple of weeks!

Just want to say a big 'hello' to all my  followers, new and old. Isn't blogland amazing? Thank you my friends for all your lovely comments.

I am off to rebuild part of my front steps and point the garden wall this afternoon when my labourer (hubby) gets back from hockey. So after watching the World Cup rugby first thing I decided to make a card for World Card Making Day.

I had a couple of challenges in mind(surprise!) when I made this card.....

Recipe
Owl cut at 3.5" from Wildcard
Witches hat and layers cut at 3" from Happy Hauntings
Sentiment - Mixed Holiday Sentiments from My Creative Time
DP twilight Collection from Pink Paislee
Tim Holtz vintage paper distress ink
White chalk ink
Black enamel accents
3D foam pads

All edges inked  and owl's feathers doodled and curled for dimension.
Witches hat attached with 3d foam.

Challenges I am entering this card into....

Whimsical Wednesdays - Anything goes
Cardz TV - Hootie Halloween
Cricut Blog - World Card Making Day

Over at My Craft Spot , Kimberly is having a design team call. I decided I would enter this card to try for a place. Hit the link to find out more details if you are interested too. It's a great blog and you will find lots of inspirational projects there.

I love how this turned out. Last year we had a huge Halloween party and I crafted myself out.Lol!!
I ordered Happy Hauntings from the US and it arrived the day after the party,so this is the first time I've used it!!

I hope you have a terrific weekend.
Hugs,
Jayne x
