Hinge Card

Hi,how are you doing? Hope you're having a great weekend. I have been missing my fellow blogging friends! I'm going to try and get some time in my craft room tomorrow as I have another hectic week scheduled!!

We went for a lovely day out yesterday and I planned to spend the evening crafting to enter a few challenges(getting withdrawal symptoms! Lol!). But instead I spent the evening at Accident and Emergency with my husband who stood on a 5" nail! It went through his shoe  and into his foot but fortunately he didn't put weight on it or it would have gone through the other side! The nail was attached to a plank of wood and rusty...needless to say, cleaned up,antibiotics and a tetanus shot. He's fine, sore, limping and playing in a cricket tournament today that he organised months ago!!!

My son and I are off to a friend's house for a barbeque soon,so I got up really early to make a card to post. Enough of all my ramblings, let me show you my card....

I know,shock! a cricutless card!!! Lol.
I took a stamp and a handful of promarkers with me to the hospital and this is what I came up with.
In actual fact we were there for over 3 hours so I should have stamped and coloured more images!

This is the first hinge card I have ever made and I like how it turned out,I can see lots of possibilities for it. The lower layers of the flower have a brad through them and all layers of the card to make it hinge.

Recipe
All stamps from Fun in the Sun by Penny Black(how pretty is she?)
Promarkers
Flowers
Gem brad,brad and button
MS border punch
Bubbles embossing folder(maybe no cricut but still couldn't not emboss and ink all edges!!!)
Glossy Accents(glasses)
3D foam

Challenges I'm entering this into are..
Whimsical Wednesdays -#16 Any style card other than A2 or shape
Paper Playtime -#51 Summer -stamping
Paper Variety Tic Tac Toe - I went horizontally...card,water theme, buttons
Penny black Saturday Challenge -#162 -create a background using a  penny black stamp

Enjoy your Sunday and thanks for calling by.

Snail Mail

Hi,how are you all doing? School finished yesterday,so the first day of the hols today.
Managed to grab an hour in my craft room and was showing my parents my Imagine.... and I actually made my first card with it!!

I had cut the card base and snail from Birthday Bash on my expression and decided to cut the snail on my Imagine mainly to play with the background papers. But I really liked how it turned out, so added some embossing, inking and 3d foam.

I am entering this over at My Craft Spot - challenge #18,emboss it. Thanks for looking.

Monogram

Hi Everyone, how's your week going? Doesn't time fly when you're having fun!

I  want to start by saying thank -you for all the lovely comments I have received and I appreciate each and everyone of them.

Today I have a card I have made for my friend Alison. Her birthday isn't for a couple of weeks but I wanted to join in the challenge over at Cricut Cardz. You have to use a monogram. This is what I came up with...

I used Storybook for the initial and mats and used Just Because Cards for the card and tag layer.
Everything embossed and inked. Added twine and a MS punch butterfly with pearls.

To show the dimension.

My friend is a pink kind of girl and I think she will like it. Thanks for looking.

I Scream for Ice Cream - No Really!

Hi,Happy Monday. Hope your week got off to a great start. Caught up on various jobs and decided to have a play with my new cart - Sweet Tooth Boxes.
I have some exciting news to share with you tomorrow and have cakes to take into work to celebrate. A colleague is on a diet,so thought I would make her ice cream instead.....just with less calories...card!!!Lol.
Here is my nightmare creation...

As regular friends to my blog, you will know that I love making 3d items. Well, this ice cream is the exception!
In the booklet it suggests cutting at 9.5" with fit to length on. If you cut the top row of the item everything else should fit accordingly. Couldn't cut at 9.5" on 12 x 12 mat,so selected 6".
Cut out, scored, folded and glued...fiddly,but ok so far. EXCEPT they don't fit together!!!! Aaagh!!
If anyone has any tips about this please let me know. No cut sizes were changed, but the ice cream is way too big.
Binned top layer of cone and added strips of card to ice cream to attach to lower cone.

Ice cream was painted with rock candy stickles to add 'ice'. Covered in gems and glass beads for pretty sprinkles.

The cone was embossed and sanded for texture.
Although it didn't turn out as intended,I really like it.

I am entering this over at Fantabulous Cricut - #69 , I scream for ice cream

Thanks for stopping by and hope you can join me tomorrow.

Milk cartons!

Happy Sunday. We're off to see Transformers 3  'Dark of the Moon' in 3d this afternoon. The weather this weekend is lousy!

One of my passions is making boxes/containers out of card. I am the proud owner(not yet much used!) of an Imagine. I was really pleased as it means I can indulge my 'milk carton' addiction! Well, I could if I could get the cartridge here in the UK!!!
My best friend Kate surprised me this week with a plastic template to make a milk carton........thanks Honey.
I made a couple of cartons, the first one I'm sharing is part of a gift for my son's teacher. School breaks up very soon and thought I would fill this with chocolate.
I am linking this over at The Paper Variety which is a Photo Inspiration Week.

I thought the photo of the child studying and the bright colours fitted well with my colourful teacher gift.

The next one is one I made the day before Kate gave me the template. Lots of measuring and work(boy am I so used to die cutting machines!!!) but still (I think) quite effective.

The flower is Tim Holtz's flower die, stamped, inked and glimmer misted. If anyone wants to know the measurements and / or how to make this - just let me know.

Thanks for looking.

Mittens

Hello, how's your week been? Another busy one here! Hurray,it's the weekend!
I love making Christmas cards and thought I would make a project to enter over at BBTB2 . The challenge this week was to use the mittens cut on Joys of the Season. I was going to make a mitten shaped card but my gypsy was out of charge.
This (slightly demented looking) snowman with mitts is what I came up with...

I liked the 'Warm Wishes' sentiment:
 a) for the sentiment
b)so inappropriate for a snowman! Lol!!

Lots of rock candy stickles, ink, glitter and glossy accents.
(Snowman - doodlecharms 4")

Thanks for looking, have a great Saturday. Back tomorrow with my milk carton obsession!

Circles

Hi and Happy Monday Friends. I'm having some blogger issues(again!) and haven't been able to see my followers ( or anybody else's.) But I am delighted to say that according to my stats I now have 100 followers!! Thank-you,that means a lot to me.
I needed to make a card for a nearly teenage boy. Trendy and simple is where I went with this....well it's certainly simple!!...raincheck on trendy,Lol.

Well, with my addiction to challenges, you can guess that this card is being entered into one, over at Birthday Sundaes  challenge #17, to use orange, green and white.

I embossed the white cardstock  and the circles are cut from accent essentials. Hardly use this cart, but quite like how this turned out. The gift voucher inside will make it popular with the recipient!

Hope your week is off to a flying start. Pop back tomorrow if you get a chance as I have a special card I have been  making to give to friends that moved this weekend.

Thanks so much for looking. Jayne x

Rain Dear!

Hi,hope your week is going well. A huge warm welcome to all my followers, I hope you enjoy my blog. Can't believe I'm nearly at 100 followers, thank you.
Our weather in the UK has taken a nose dive since the weekend, (I know,no real surprises there then!!) and I can safely say that I won't need to water the plants tonight!
Thought I would play along in a couple of christmas challenges and strangely enough a  reindeer was what came to mind first! Lol.

 Card Recipe
Winter Frolic - reindeer cut at 3",doodled,inked
Scarf embossed,lights - glossy accents
Acetate embossed with sizzix snowflakes folder and attached with eyelets
Reindeer popped on 3d foam
Forever Friends stamp

The challenges I am entering him into are...
Celebrate the Occasion - #21 - Christmas in July(no red)
The Paper Variety - Christmas in July
ABC Christmas Challenge  - N is for No Nonsense(no designer papers)

I would have given him a red scarf and a red nose, but think the fuchsia worked okay. The photos don't do the acetate justice as it gives a really great shiny background and really sets off whatever image you add. You can tell I add this a lot especially for my christmas cards when I'm keeping my image simple. I save all the clear packaging off everything and it embosses great.
Have a good day,off to catch up on your blogs.

Recipe
Nate's ABCs - elephant 3.5", crocodile 2.25"
