I Scream for Ice Cream - No Really!

Hi,Happy Monday. Hope your week got off to a great start. Caught up on various jobs and decided to have a play with my new cart - Sweet Tooth Boxes.
I have some exciting news to share with you tomorrow and have cakes to take into work to celebrate. A colleague is on a diet,so thought I would make her ice cream instead.....just with less calories...card!!!Lol.
Here is my nightmare creation...

As regular friends to my blog, you will know that I love making 3d items. Well, this ice cream is the exception!
In the booklet it suggests cutting at 9.5" with fit to length on. If you cut the top row of the item everything else should fit accordingly. Couldn't cut at 9.5" on 12 x 12 mat,so selected 6".
Cut out, scored, folded and glued...fiddly,but ok so far. EXCEPT they don't fit together!!!! Aaagh!!
If anyone has any tips about this please let me know. No cut sizes were changed, but the ice cream is way too big.
Binned top layer of cone and added strips of card to ice cream to attach to lower cone.

Ice cream was painted with rock candy stickles to add 'ice'. Covered in gems and glass beads for pretty sprinkles.

The cone was embossed and sanded for texture.
Although it didn't turn out as intended,I really like it.

I am entering this over at Fantabulous Cricut - #69 , I scream for ice cream

Thanks for stopping by and hope you can join me tomorrow.

  1. Oh Jayne, what a beauty...amazing job my friend. Amazing! ~Shen

  2. Very pretty! Love the Stickles and gems. I do not have this cart YET!

  3. Jayne this is absolutely fabulous! Using the glass beads for sprinkles brilliant!

  4. Jayne this is so cute I love it. How sweet to make it for someone who is on a diet...
    Have a great day

  5. What a fabulous box, Jayne! The embossed cone looks super - as do all the extras on top! I'm sorry you had struggles with the sizes. I'm actually considering this cartridge so look forward to hearing more about it and seeing more on your creations!

  7. Hi Jayne,
I am about to enter my first ever challenge with fantabulous cricut but need to upload my photo yet. I made the same icecream last night. I am new to the cricut and am loving it and just got the sweet tooth cartridge yesterday. I had to laugh with you when reading your post as I am usually the one struggling to work out how things work (like the pop-ups cartridge!). Your icecream is a little different to mine as is not quite complete as to why the top is too big. I love they way you embossed the cone and wish I had thought of that! I will put my photo up hopefully tonight and I hope this helps. My blog is and I hope to find time to upload my pic tonight. I look forward to looking through the rest of your creations. Jacqui

  8. This is soooo cute! I just got this cartridge and can't wait to make some of these cute projects:)

  9. This is super I might need to get this cart.

  10. Hi Jacqui,
thanks for your comment. The top(middle layer) of the cone obviously came out too small as didn't fit cone or ice cream. I used fit to length and think I shouldn't have! Will come and see how it should be done.Lol!

  11. Well I'm sorry to hear it was difficult for you to put together... but I gotta say it looks FABULOUS! I love the added beads to it.... It actually looks like a HUGE Ice Cream.... YUMMY! :o)

  12. Jayne, it is so cute! I know how much you like making 3-D projects and I love seeing them! Great job at improvising on the cuts. I have had that happen on occasion too and don't have a good solution, sorry! I love the sparkles you added with the bead and shimmer. And I love how you embossed and sanded the cone. Thanks for playing with us at FCCB! Sabrina

  13. I'm in awe, Jayne! This cone is adorable and has so many great details. I especially like the sanding. Great job!

  15. Super cute Ice Cream cone box... who would have thought you could create something so very clever. What a great cartridge, I can't wait to see more Sweet Tooth boxes. Thanks for joining us again at FCCB, you always have something amazing to share!

  16. Jayne, it came out really pretty. I cut one at 9.5 and everything fit just right. I didn't see anything about leaving fit to length on. Fit fine on a 12x12.

  17. Jayne, this is fabulous!! I love how you added sprinkles! Thanks for playing at FCCB!
